God”s Decree: Arrogance and the fall of a nation

Psalm 101:5 (MSG), “5 I put a gag on the gossip who bad-mouths his neighbor; I can’t stand arrogance.”
Jeremiah 49:16, “Jeremiah 49:16 (MSG)

16” You think you’re so great— strutting across the stage of history, Living high in the impregnable rocks, acting like king of the mountain. You think you’re above it all, don’t you, like an eagle in its aerie? Well, you’re headed for a fall. I’ll bring you crashing to the ground.” GOD’s Decree.”

This message keenly illustrates human nature battling itself internally, and morally. Should we disregard the poor to satisfy our desires just because we can versus those who think, should we jeopardize our lives to stand up against injustice and tyranny to try and gain equilibrium with the forces that oppose us?
These scripture more than anything are showing how kingdoms, and empires, and dictatorships rule and reign and trample over its people backs as if they are not the beneficiaries of its existence, as if they are not the reason to have a government and or leadership in place.

Martin Luther King on the eve of his assassination spoke at the Mason Temple in Memphis Tennessee he talked to the people and about how the people are the strength of a nation and that they only need to “pool” their resources, i.e. their power to balance it against the powers of a corrupt government whether it be a city, state or nation or even a world government. and that God is the foundation and governor of it all. His sermon’s essence is the implication that sooner or later God through godly people will put it all under His subjection!
Therefore, those of us who are “Developing Our Hearts for God” will have to be ready to heed the call to serve God by serving the poor and those under subjection of governmental oppression and as M.L.King quoted … with an eloquent cry that we have nothing to fear but fear itself… It is no longer a choice between violence and non-violence in this world; it’s nonviolence or nonexistence… That is where we are today. And also in the human rights revolution, if something isn’t done, and in a hurry, to bring the colored peoples of the world out of their long years of poverty, their long years of hurt and neglect, the whole world is doomed” (Jr., 1994).
Further confirmation of God’s sovereign and timely intervention is seen here, “Borrowing language from international diplomacy used earlier by Obadiah (Obad. 1), Jeremiah pictured God sending an envoy to His allies among the nations asking them to assemble for an attack on Edom. Edom would become small among the nations and despised as God reduced her prestige and power (cf. Obad. 2). Edom’s pride in her strong natural defenses made her feel secure, but God would bring her down.” -The Bible Knowledge Commentary: An Exposition of the Scriptures by Dallas Seminary Faculty-
“We don’t have to argue with anybody. We don’t have to curse and go around acting bad with our words. We don’t need any bricks and bottles, we don’t need any Molotov cocktails, we just need to go around to these stores, and to these massive industries in our country, and say, “God sent us by here, to say to you that you’re not treating his children right. And we’ve come by here to ask you to make the first item on your agenda–fair treatment, where God’s children are concerned. Now, if you are not prepared to do that, we do have an agenda that we must follow. And our agenda calls for withdrawing economic support from you.” (Jr., 1994).
This article demands that we stray from arrogance and mistreatment of our neighbors. As we “Develop Our Hearts for God” we must absolutely remember that God decrees that he will bring down those who through disregard of the needy with their arrogant hearts and oppress His people, He will bring down those from the top of society down to the individuals who gossip against others and are inconsiderate of those who cannot do for themselves as effectively as the next person.
